USCIS Furlough Cancelled

USCIS, in a stunning reversal, announced yesterday that it would not furlough the roughly 70,000 employees notified that their last day would be August 31, 2020.  The move comes through what the agency is calling “cost savings.”  The result, the Agency states, will be prolonged wait times for applications including naturalizations.   This announcement comes after three years of ever-increasing processing times for nearly all applications without explanation as to the reason.

The Immigration Guy is pleased that 70,000 government employees who faithfully serve our nation’s interests will not be furloughed during this especially challenging time in America.
